5 Years Loc’d In!

Celebrating 5 years of being “loc’d in”! I started my hair loc journey on June 16, 2020, which was the same year I started working as a NICU nurse in Tennessee. I was bored with my short hair style, plus it was around the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic when we couldn’t do anything or go anywhere. Therefore, I “loc’d in” at the Locs of Love Haircare & Spa 🤷🏾‍♀️.  Throughout my loc journey, I’ve used many different hair products, but will share my top three favorite products/brands and the favorite locticians I’ve gone to during my travel nurse assignments as a NICU nurse.

1. Design Essentials

Shampoo: Oat Protein & Henna

Conditioner: Rosemary & Mint

Oils: Anti-Itch & Tension Relief – Tea Tree & Aloe & Vitamin Drops – Vitamin E

The shampoo makes my hair feel stronger, due to the added protein ingredients. The conditioner makes my hair feel soft, extra clean, and fresh due to the rosemary and mint ingredients. The oils are great for itchy scalp and feel great when used right after getting a fresh re-twist. Since my hair has grown longer, the oils definitely help ease the scalp tension, strengthen hair, and add nutrients to my hair/scalp.

2. Made For Locs

Shampoo: ACV

Gel: Locs Gel Pomegranate

Spray Oil: Locs Oil Spray

I recently found out about these products and was quite impressed with them all. Initially, I was looking for an apple cider vinegar hair detox recipe, but came across MFL products during my google search. I use the gel to re-twist my locs. The gel doesn’t cause any build up or residue, which is a plus for me. Additionally, I use the oil spray for extra shine and hydration.

3. As I Am

Hair Spray: Rosemary or Rice Water Spray

I use these hairsprays for hydration. My favorite out of the two is the rosemary because of it’s peppermint scent that gives my locs a nice fresh, minty aroma.

All in all, I really love my loc’d hair and all of the products I use to maintain and moisturize my locs. I’ve tried many products (which were piling high in my bathroom 🙃), but finally figured out the one’s that worked best for my hair. In addition, I searched for and found a few awesome locticians while on assignment, whom I was quite pleased with.
