During my travel nurse assignment in Atlanta, GA, I stayed in the Brookhaven area (northeastern suburbs of Atlanta). I attended a few activities and visited several different restaurants, where I truly enjoyed the food. I cannot wait to share my experiences in the Peach State with you!
Now let’s tRavel iN style!
ACTIVITIES:
Atlanta Harvest: Family owned and operated urban farmers market. There were locally grown, fresh food, e.g., eggs, meat, vegetables, fruit, and more! I wanted to try their yellow watermelon, but they had already sold out of them. In addition, there were different varieties of handmade soap, which I definitely stocked up on. I especially loved the oatmeal soap and black soap; they felt really good on my skin.
Sky Barre: Fun and exciting aerial-silks class. I was super nervous about attending the class, since it was my first time. Although it was a beginners class, I still had to put my ALL into using my upper body strength to climb onto the silks. We had amazing instructors who taught us different moves, and we really enjoyed the process of learning them. If I stayed in Atlanta longer, I would have definitely signed up to attend multiple classes to increase my upper body strength and flexibility.
RESTAURANTS:
Mosa: East African-American brunch restaurant, with a beautiful ambiance and great hospitality. I ordered the beautiful, delicious Pink Paradise cocktail (reposado tequila, peach schnapps, St. Germaine, triple sec, lemon juice, muddled strawberries, pineapple juice), paired with the Vegan Pasta (tomato sauce, spicy berbere, basil, mushroom, bell peppers, onion, garlic, and ginger). Everything tasted phenomenal!
Conch Heaven: One of my favorite Caribbean restaurants to dine! I visited so often that the cashier remembered my name and my favorite menu items lol. I loved ordering the flavorful Oxtails Plate, which included peas & rice, and steamed cabbage. For dessert, I always order their delicious, mouth watering rum cake.
Mission Burger Co.: 100% plant-based restaurant. I ordered the Jr. Smoked Brisket, which consisted of a Single Impossible patty with smokey provolone, topped with house smoked brisket (made out of mushrooms), BBQ sauce, mayonnaise, pickles & crispy fried onions. The meal included a side of hot, crispy fries. The plant-based burger was really delicious!
F1F4 Pizza Bar: Pizza establishment in Alpharetta, GA. I ordered their most popular oxtail pizza, which consisted of slow braised, shredded oxtails, topped with mozzarella cheese, and pepadew peppers. It was very delicious.
French Toast Buckhead: Newer restaurant founded in 2024 that specialized in breakfast, brunch, and lunch. I often ordered hearty, southern to-go breakfasts after working three back-to-back shifts. On different occasions I added collard greens and cheese grits to my meal, along with a side of beignets for dessert. The restaurant did not disappoint me at all!
