Two days were not enough time to explore Chicago, but I made the best of them with my family. One thing that I could say about the “windy city”, was it had gorgeous, breath-taking architecture! There was even a five-story Starbucks, which is known as the largest in the world!
Now let’s tRavel iN style!
Day 1
While on a travel assignment in Saint Louis, MO, my family flew in for a visit. We decided to ride the Amtrak train from Saint Louis (Gateway Station) to Chicago (Union Station), which was about a five hour train ride.
We stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Chicago – Magnificent Mile. Once we settled into our hotel room, we later took a Lyft to see the Cloud Gate, “The Bean”in the AT&T Plaza at Millennium Park in the Loop community area.
Afterwards, we walked the Magnificent Mile that was filled with luxe clothing stores, restaurants, and souvenir shops. Then, we went to the 360 Chicago Observation Deck where we saw the best panoramic views of Chicago, located on the 94th floor (1000 feet high)! We planned to go on the thriller ride called the TILT, but the line was too long…maybe next time.
For dinner, we went to Ciccio and ate a delicious, flavorful, authentic, grilled Italian sausage and pepper “samwitch”, served with roasted potatoes in the Navy Pier Food Hall. I would give this restaurant five stars all around! The service was as good as the food.
Day 2
We took a Lyft back to the Navy Pier and rode on the ferris wheel called the Centennial Wheel. Then, we ate at the Giordiano’s pizza chain restaurant to try their stuffed, deep-dish pizza. We ordered a medium Chicago Classic-Deep Dish, which was more than enough to eat, leaving leftovers. I stuffed my face just like the pizza and felt miserable afterwards. I guess that saying is true, You Are What You Eat!
Afterwards, we stopped by Cafe El Tapatio to get a couple of drinks. Their margaritas were on point! Later that evening, we ended our last night with a comedy show at the Laugh Factory, featuring comics, such as Ali Drapos, T. Murph, and many others. We laughed our a#@%s off!
You are going to have a great time whenever you visit Chicago. Once you do, let me know down in the comments what fun activities you enjoyed doing in the CHI-TOWN! 🌬️🏙️
