The Buckeye State

The travel nurse assignment in Columbus, Ohio was different from any other assignment I have been on. For example, there was a hospital system with multiple locations around the Columbus area where I could be floated to different NICUs at different hospitals. The NICU levels were III & IV throughout the hospital system. The campus where I was assigned was a small Level III NICU, with 23 beds. Most of the patients came from the Labor & Delivery or Mother/Baby unit.

If you are considering a travel nurse assignment in Columbus, OH, make sure to check out the resources provided below:

  • Hospital: Nationwide Children’s Hospital – Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Campus.
  • Scrubs Color(s): Royal blue (hospital/NICU friendly tops can be worn in any color).
  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Lodging: Furnished Finder (Short-term rental close proximity to all hospitals).
  • Transportation: Drive or Lyft/Uber.
  • Hospital Parking: Free!
  • Assignments: Mount Carmel St. Ann’s ratio was mostly 1:2-3. Patients were micro preemies to feeder growers. Oxygen support: Conventional ventilation/NIV/BCPAP/HFNC/NC
  • Floating: One could float to all Nationwide Children’s Hospitals, to the NICUs or other ICU/MedSurg Units.

In conclusion, the travel assignment in Columbus, OH was quite nice and the staff was super helpful. They made sure my assignment was appropriate, and they made me feel like I was one of their own. I was happy that I was never floated to any other hospitals because I enjoyed my time at Mount Carmel St. Ann.
