The Mile High City!
This assignment was located at the Children’s Hospital in Colorado, Aurora campus. I stayed in Denver, which was about a 20-30 minute drive to/from the hospital, depending on traffic. Housing was a bit more expensive in Denver; however, I would not advise anyone to find housing in Aurora, Colorado, as it is known to have a high crime rate. One of the travel nurses, who stayed in Aurora, was a victim of vehicle theft twice during this assignment.
The unit that I worked on was travel friendly. The hospital management showed their appreciation to staff members through gifts and food, which added to an enjoyable atmosphere. That was one of the things I looked forward to, when going to work. I always wondered what they would be gifting when I arrived at work, lol.

Overall, working at the Children’s Hospital was a pleasant experience. While the housing in Aurora may not be desirable due to high crime rates, staying in Denver would be a convenient option, despite the higher cost. Again, the unit was travel-friendly and had many resources available for assistance.
