Buongiorno! Earlier this summer, my mom, aunt, cousin, and I went on a trip to Rome and Venice, Italy to celebrate my mom’s 50th birthday. We chose one of the best black-owned travel agencies, Luxe Tribes, to arrange the trip for us. Our travel package included: a dedicated personal travel agent, who communicated with us throughout the entire trip; personal tour guides; organized daily agendas with scheduled tours/activities; 24/7 all-ground transportation for tours/activities, round trip airport, and train station transfers; restaurant reservations; 4 star hotels that included complimentary breakfast. It was an experience that I would never forget, and I can’t wait to tell you about it!…

Now let’s tRavel iN Style!

We flew from Florida to Rome, Italy via Delta Airlines. Throughout the trip, the Luxe Tribes agent communicated with us via the WhatsApp and ensured that we got to our scheduled destinations, answered questions, etc. Once we arrived at the airport in Rome, we were greeted by a Luxe Tribes private driver, who transported us to our hotel, called The Guardian Hotel where we settled in and enjoyed a glass of wine.

That evening, we were picked up by another private driver, who took us sightseeing in his vintage tour van. We were able to stop and take pictures at the historical Colosseum, at one of the most beautiful gardens that overlooked the city called, Giardino Degli Aranci, and at the Terrazzo del Gianicolo, which also had great views of Rome.

Afterwards, we headed to Trapizzino to enjoy delicious trapizzinis. We got the Pollo Alla Cacciatora (chicken) and the Polpetta Al Sugo (meatballs) which were to die for! They were sooo delicious and flavorful 🤤. Afterwards, we ate the best gelato ever at Gelateria La Romana Roma.

The next morning, for the first half of the day, we went on a two hour, private architectural-walking tour of Rome. We visited the Trevi Fountain and participated in the traditional three coin tossing. We also visited the Pantheon, the church of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi (Fountain of the Four Rivers) and more! We passed by numerous luxury stores, and I must say that I did extremely well by not going into any of the stores to shop…I took great pleasure in window shopping, lol.

For our evening excursion, we took a four hour train ride to Venice (Luxe Tribes sent prepaid tickets through WhatsApp) and was transported from the train to our hotel in a reserved, water taxi. We arrived at the Saturnia Hotel & International and got dressed for my mom’s 50th birthday celebration dinner at the Algiubagiò restaurant.

The next morning in Venice, we went on a private gondola ride at the Santa Maria del Giglio Station. It was quite relaxing, yet entertaining listening to our gondolier sing Italian tunes, as we made our way through the canals.

Later that afternoon, we took a seven minute walk to our next tour that was located in front of Museo Corner in St. Mark’s Square for a small group guided tour of St. Mark’s Basilica and Doge’s Palace. When visiting religious sites, we had to wear clothing that covered our knees and shoulders (we brought kimonos and shawls). Please keep that in mind whenever you visit.

After our last outing in Venice, we grabbed our luggage from the hotel and headed back to the train station for Rome. For our last night in Rome, we ate our farewell dinner at Hostaria Romana, and afterwards had one more taste of delicious gelato at Gelateria La Romana Roma.

I was truly sad when it was time to leave Italy, but according to the three coin toss tradition at the Trevi Fountain, I will return again, lol. Thanks Luxe Tribes for giving us the best Italy experience. Until next time🫡… Arrivederci!
