After a hospital in New Orleans, LA (NOLA) canceled the contract to my travel-nurse assignment, me and some of the other NICU crew members decided to have a little fun before leaving NOLA and returning to our hometowns. We figured that we might as well make the best out of a “mad” situation…
Now let’s tRavel iN style!
Day 1
First, we walked down Magazine Street, located in uptown NOLA. Magazine Street consisted of six miles of shops, restaurants, and assortments of entertainment. We stopped to eat at the MISA restaurant and enjoyed a Mediterranean-American cuisine, prepared by an Israeli chef. The pasta dishes and the fried donuts for dessert were phenomenal!

Day 2
Of course, we had to visit the historical Bourbon Street, located in the heart of the French Quarters of NOLA, which extended thirteen blocks. There were so many shops, bars, and entertainment to enjoy while walking along the street. It did not matter what time of day or night it was, Bourbon Street was a never-ending entertainment thoroughfare.

We also visited Cafe Du Monde for their delicious, infamous beignets. I must admit, the beignets were messy as h*ll, with loads of powdered sugar that ended up all over my face and clothes!!! But, they were delicious and worth the mess that they caused!

Afterwards, we took an Uber to Jack Rose restaurant, located in the historical Pontchartrain Hotel. The main reason I wanted to visit this restaurant was because I was intrigued with the regal, giant-sized portrait of the rapper Lil’ Wayne, who was born in NOLA. I ordered the duck and andouille sausage gumbo, which was very flavorful and a little on the spicy side. I paired my meal with the Louisiana Harvest cocktail, which was quite refreshing. After the meal, we took the elevator to the rooftop bar, Hot Tin, which overlooked downtown New Orleans and the Mississippi River.

Finally, it was time to say good-bye to NOLA. Hopefully the girls and I will meet up again for more fun and adventure or maybe on another travel-nurse assignment, in the near future. As I turned-in for the night, it was time to start packing and preparing to return home and figure out my next move. I couldn’t help but to wonder, where would I go next???
Have you been to NOLA? What did you do for fun?! 🥳🎭⚜️🎺
