My Nursing Journey Blog
I graduated from Florida A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and intended to go to medical school; however, the universe had other plans for me. I ended up going back to school at the University of Miami and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in an accelerated nursing program. I fell in love with the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) during my practicum in nursing school and knew that was exactly where I wanted to be AND what I wanted to do!
During my practicum, one of my preceptors, who had been a NICU nurse for 20 years, stated that she wish that she would have ventured out in other nursing areas instead of working only in the NICU. My first nursing job was Adult Medical/Surgical (I’m glad I survived). Then Mother/Baby and now NICU as a travel nurse!
